Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Fee Area

When it's hot go tubing! There are several ways to enjoy tubing down the Ichetucknee River. First you must have a tube. You can rent tubes or inflatable boats at several area vendors or you can bring your own. However most places that you rent from will tie them to your car for you and pick them up at the park when you are done with them which is nice. Also you must pay a fee for each "floater" at the entrace to the park (5 and under are free). If you choose not to float you still have to pay a fee per car to park.

To start your adventure at the upper tube launch, park at the North Entrance and plan on 3 hours of floating. Nature trails, picnic areas and swiming at the Head Spring and Blue Hole Spring are also available at the North Entrance. The Letterbox is located on the nature trail accesible from the North Entrance. To reach the letterbox follow the signs for the nature trails. There are 2 trails but they start at the same point. Enjoy the ferns and other greenery on the hike but watch for webs and their "keepers". Look for the "T" in the path and the WARNING sign. Trail continues to the right but the letterbox can be found to the left just past the "warning" sign in the natural pocket/shelf of the arching tree. The box is covered with leaves. This spot is a popular picture and rest spot so wait until other hikers have moved on before you retrieve the box. After you have stamped-in continue on the nature trails or return to the front of the park for a "refreshing" dip in the springs!

Other helpful info when planning your trip to Ichetucknee Springs.
** only 750 tubers are allowed to launch daily from the upper launch so you need to be at the park by 8am with your tubes. 3 hour float. Only from Memorial Day Weekend - Labor Day.
*** 2,250 tubers can launch from the midpoint lauch daily. 1.5 hour float. To launch at midpoint you must park at the south entrance. You then take a shuttle with your tube to the launch.
***You can also launch from Dampier's Landing from the South entrance and it is an hour float. There is no limit to the number of tubers.
***If you do park at the South Entrance and then float from the Midpoint or Dampier's Landing your parking pass is also good at the North Entrance for the same day. SO you can float the southern half of the river have lunch (maybe a nap) and then in the afternoon find the letterbox and swim in the springs!

Have FUN!
