This will be the 5th year for the Outspoken for 4-H bike ride on June 11-15, 2008. Each year a group of 4-H members, leaders, and friends make a 4 day, 250 mile ride from Jefferson County, WV to Jackson’s Mill 4-H Camp and Conference Center. This year 15 riders aging 18 to 45 will make the trek over the mountains to raise money to send 4-Hers to a state 4-H camp. To read more about the ride, see a detailed route, and to donate please visit http://www.ext.wvu.edu/4-h/outspoken/
To find this box head to the bike riders final stop at Jackson’s Mill 4-H camp. Park and head out on foot via the Dominion Trail that starts between the Administration/Registration Building and Barbour Cottage. Follow the stone path until you get to an informational sign. Make a left onto the dirt path. Follow the path through the wooden gazebo. Go up the stairs and head to Teepi Shrine named for Teepi Kendrick (it’s stone and circular). From the shrine, take a reading of 300 degrees and make note of the tree stump in that line. Follow the path to this stump (the second one on the right) and the Outspoken for 4-H stamp will be inside.
Take some time to explore the grounds and learn about West Virginia 4-H.
