Oh, The Yellow Roads of Texas
Is where I want to be,
I love those yellow flowers
As far as I can see…
In my little pink convertible,
I thank you, Lady Bird,
For sewing seeds of sunshine,
At least that’s what I heard…
Buttercups and Goldenrod,
And Black-eyed Susan, too!
Sunflowers and Daisies
Always make me think of you!
Directions:
From Fredericksburg, go south on Highway 16 for 3 miles to Lady Bird Johnson Municipal park on your right. Drive by the RV area, and through the gate. Immediately on your left, you will see a trailhead information sign. Turn in and park by the sign and read about the trail. To the left is a butterfly viewing area and a bird blind. Feel free to visit both.
To the box:
From the information board, follow the trail loop to the right, past the end of the handicap-accessible path. Go down the steps to the main trail. To your left you will see a bench where you can stamp in, but first, turn right on the trail for about 16 steps. Uphill to the right is a big old gnarly tree. Make your way up to it and, resting in its center, covered with a white flat rock, you’ll find the letterbox.
