Long Point Plantation existed along the Wando River as early as 1719. Cotton was a major crop on the plantation. Although the plantation is gone, some pieces of history remain.

From Long Point Road, turn on Wando Park Boulevard just south of Interstate 526. Follow the road 1.6 miles. Soon after the sidewalk begins on the left, you will see a Dead End sign. Park just behind the Dead End sign, across from the pond.

Take the gravel path along the pond. At two wooden posts, the gravel path becomes dirt and the path turns to the right.

Follow the path to the historic smokehouse/icehouse. Walk on to another historic marker on the left. Come around to the left and enjoy the view of the new bridge from the new bench. See the little path to the left and follow to a fallen tree. The box is in the V of the tree, covered by several branches. Please recover well. THis site has been vandalized before. Enjoy the moment!
