difficulty: easy with very short, level walk

The charcoal kilns are an interesting historical landmark, up a well-groomed dirt road (5-6 miles up) that turns off of highway 28 on the way to Salmon (note: town mileage is from the turnoff point). The kilns were in operation from 1885-1889. There are now only four of the kilns left. It's definitely worth the trip off the highway, and there are good markers explaining the sights as well as picnic tables and outhouses for the family.

Clue:
At the "Back Door-Fill It To the Top" Marker, walk around the right side of the stand that is built up for the marker. The box is hidden in a large hole on the right-hand side of the stand toward the back with rocks in front of it.

Note: use caution in checking the hole for the box as an animal could hide in the space (the space was already there when I hid the box). Replace the rocks to keep the box hidden.
