BOX CHECKED IN MAY 2010 AND ALL IS WELL!
Our three adorable miniature dachshunds love to go letterbox hunting with us. We were camping at Fish Lake Resort when we decided to hide our very first one! There was still some snow on the ground, but it was melting fast and we were able to find a nice place to hide the box. Good luck and enjoy!
Be sure to also take the clues for our letterbox planted at Fish Lake Campground - "Chipmunk's Day Camp"
Clues:
Fish Lake Resort is 26 miles East of Eagle Point on Hwy 140. Park at the Resort restaurant/store/office. Walk toward the lake and follow the trail that goes to your left, around the lake. Walk along this trail between the lake and the cabins on past the last campsite.
After the last campsite, the trail goes slightly uphill. At the top of the hill, on your right, you will see a huge standing dead tree with a split trunk. Turn right immediately after this tree and follow the trail toward the walk-in campsite.
The trail will come to a Y and you will veer to the left, (the right would take you to the campsite). You will come to a huge, rotting fallen tree that crosses the path. Follow the tree to the left until you get to the beginning of the lava beds. There is a bush at the top of the lava beds (10 o’clock position). At the base of this bush, the letter box waits for you hidden under some rocks!
