Follow 31 north out of Traverse city ( heading toward Elk Rapids) just before you come to the very small town of yuba you will see on the right a trail head right off the highway with a small unpaved parking area, pull in and park.
This is the Yuba Creek Natural Area, the actual trail is mowed , starting from the parking area. Follow the trail ( straight ahead from entrance), the trail curves to the right where you will see a large rock with a plaque on it describing the valley and natural area. Stop, enjoy the scene. From the rock "march" 60 paces further down the trail to a nice sized apple tree on the left.Under the tree, around the back, look between the trunks and under the twigs! Not only will you find "ants" in this location but if you listen close you will hear the bees gathering pollen from the apple blossems in the tree. Please re-hide carefully ! NO INK PAD IN BOX, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN!
