**As of March 2009, we have been told this box is now missing.**

This is a short hike by the beach, involving some steep stairs and hills, and breathtaking views. Dogs on leashes are allowed at this location. Please stay on all trails and respect sensitive native plants. Consider packing a picnic and definitely bring your camera to capture the scenery!

Start in Carmel, CA at the corner of Highway One and Rio Road. Drive south on Highway One for 7/10 of a mile and then turn right onto Ribera Road (look for the big sign that says "Carmel Meadows").

Follow Ribera Road to a dead end with a trail head. Find a place to park. At the trail head, go down the stairs on the right of the park trail information signs. At the bottom of the stairs, turn left onto the wide recreation path.

Follow the recreation path to a set of stairs on the left, leading uphill. Go up the stairs to a bench approximately 1/4 of the way up the hill.

Sit on the bench and enjoy the spectacular view of Point Lobos directly in front of you, Carmel Bay, and, fog allowing, Pebble Beach off to the far right.

The Brown Fedora Letterbox is hidden under a rock behind the west side of the bench.

Enjoy and please re-hide the box carefully against the leg of the bench, otherwise it may slide downhill and out from under the bench!
