THIS BOX HAS NEVER BEEN REPORTED AS FOUND. IF YOU DO SEARCH FOR IT, PLEASE NOTIFY THE PLACER IF IT WAS FOUND OR ATTEMPTED.

This box will be found on Upper Table Rock. The hike is listed as "easy" in the sources I consulted, but judging from the number of people I saw puffing their way up the trail, you should know it leans toward the "moderate" end of easy. It's a nicely maintained trail, about two miles long, with LOTS of poison oak on the sides. Stay on the trail, and you should be fine. Enjoy the views, and take advantage of the occasional bench if you need a rest on the way up.

NOTE: Picking the wildflowers on both Table Rocks is prohibited. (This letterbox is an exception.)

CLUES

1. Follow directions to Upper Table Rock, and park in the lot at the trailhead. Here you'll find the nicest pit toilets you've ever seen!

2. As you ascend the trail, you will notice many places where a row of rocks has been embedded across the trail, presumably to act as soil retainers. It's a somewhat rocky trail to begin with, but notice that these rocky retaining rows look intentionally placed and unnatural in position.

3. After enjoying your stay at the top for as long as you can, begin your trek down. Be careful! I tripped five times on my way down! Not sure if I was tired from the climb, or just moving too fast for the slope.

4. Pass four of those rows of rocks you noticed on the way up. Take 15-20 more steps down the trail until you spot two large madrone trees on your left, about five feet apart. Each one has about 7 trunks, depending on whether or not you count the dead ones.

5. You'll find the LB in the midst of one of these trees, under bark and a fist-sized rock.
