Adult Clues
.) Go down R. 42 towards Broadway. Fun Fact: Linville and Edom are close, but the Linville Creek does not separate them and never did.
.) Once in Broadway go through the first stop light.
.) Keep going past Subway, 7-11 that is on the left, and go past the car wash that is on the right.
.) Turn left on the first road after the stoplight. This road is called Turner Ave. Did you know, that homes along the Linville Creek and at other locations in Rockingham County have drawn numerous writers to them, among whom have been Miss Ida Tarbell, Hamlin Garland, William E. Barton, and Carl Sandburg.
.) Take the first right on Turner Ave. into Heritage Park.
.) Park in the first parking lot. Get out of your car and to the far side of the park, you will see a creek. The name of the family for whom Creek is named after was spelled many ways such as Linvell, Lenwell, Leinvell, Linville.
.) Take a lap around the track, while you are walking you will see a wooden bridge over Linville creek. Fun Fact: Daniel Bryan’s ancestors were some of the early settlers on Linville Creek.
.) Go across the bridge to the other side.
.) Count backwards about 185 planks (the wooden boards on the part of the bridge you walk on).
.) On the right side, under the bridge, look! You will find a surprise!
