Kids Direction’s
1. Start at the Broadway High School Information Sign.
(Broadway High School Address)
(269 Gobbler Drive, Broadway VA 22815 )
2. Face the road.
3. Turn right and begin walking toward the sidewalk. Be sure to look both ways before crossing the high school road.
4. When you reach the sidewalk, start counting the sidewalk blocks you see as you walk.
5. Keep walking until you reach the corner of the sidewalk at the stop lights and the bank should be on your right.
6. Turn right to walk down the sidewalk that goes along Main street, where parades are held every year.
7.You should pass four buildings on your right and the railroad should always be on the left across the road.
8. Keep walking until you reach a walkway that has a white arch on your right. If you come to a place where you have to cross the road then youve gone too far.
9. Hop through the white arch.
10. Walk straight on the old walkway until the white building with ared roof is on your left side. The building will have a water fountain in it.
11. Turn right and look at the bushes. You should see a little stone block that has writing on it. The writing should look like this: J. FRANK. HILLYARD, 1904-1977, TEACHER, BELOVED FRIEND, PRINCIPAL, BHS CLASS OF 1952. This memorial was made in 1952 by the BHS class This is also the place where egg hunts and Christmas events are held.
12. The Letterbox should be behind it. Great job on finding the HOTSPOT!! Another good fact to is that before the town was established there was a tribe of Indians here known as the Catawba Indian tribe!
