Pretty much everyone knows that a donkey can be bred with a horse to create a mule. It was recently discovered that the donkey can also be bred with a goat. This discovery was first made in the Wallowa Mountains in northeast Oregon by Carrin Roberts and Lefty Costello as they were hiking down from Eagle Cap to Horton Pass with their packs full of wine and small heart shaped bounlers. The pair argued for 84 hours over whether the beast should be called a gonkey or doat until they compromised on donkey goat. The pair notified renowned scientist Dr. Celilo Biggs at the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife who of course did not believe them for a second. However, Ms. Roberts and Mr. Costello had taken some rather compelling pictures and video clips which were promptly ignored, possibly due to the pair's stench, er, Lefty's stench. Reliable sources verify that Carrin is perpetually fresh as a flower.

While science was stubbornly denying the existence of the donkey goat, they quickly spread westward. Motorists occasionally claimed to spot the donkey goat but the reports were lumped in with Bigfoot and Yeti sightings.

As luck would have it though, the famous flamboyant French fly fisher, Riviere Aux Chutes, happened upon a donkey goat while camping in an abandoned boxcar on one of his expeditions. Upon sighting the donkey goat, he jumped out of the boxcar and ran east to, around and behind a wall to a safety zone where reached around to grab his camera he had hidden in the wall. He took a pictograph and hurried south about 16 miles where he met a dewy-eyed young chap named Mack who rocketed him back to civilization. Monsieur Chutes, being quite reputable, was able to convince ODFW that the donkey goat actually exists.

To this day, sharp and lucky eyes may spot donkey goats up in the canyon walls south of the old homestead near the boxcar. Rumor has it that intrepid letterboxers who carefully follow the footsteps of the fabulous and funny Frenchman are practically guaranteed to capture a virtually identical image to the one he used to prove the existence of the donkey goat. Fear not that one must trek 16 miles each way, a shorter and bikable path exists to the spot.

Please mind the weather, this place can be extremely hot in summer. Watch for rattlesnakes. Not all boxcars are created equal.
