Los Gatos Creek Trail Letterbox #1 (Lark Ave)
-------------------------------------------------
A fun place to spend the day.
Bring your wheelchairs, stroller, roller blades,
Take you dog and kids and play.

Start the search at the children's ground.
Follow road by pier and sound.
Paved and smooth, an easy walk 'round.

Past the path to rooms of rest.
To see blue heron is the best.
Remember that you're *their* guest.

Continue on to lake's end,
Pass beaver's home and 'round the bend.
Windmill on garden roof? Strange friend!

Signs of "Danger", be aware!
Follow path by the river there.
Enjoy the sun, the trees, the air.

Under bridge for those of sky,
An avenue for them to fly.
Another bridge is seen, by and by.

Spanning water, Bering Straight.
Over "Continent", don't be late.
Slip discretely through the gate.

Under Straight the box will rest.
Put your slyness to the test.
Letterboxes bring life zest!

Box includes:
Hand carved stamp

Note about the trail:
* There are many ways to get to this box because of the size of the trail and where you can get on it. These directions start at the Vasona Park to make it easy. Those familiar with the area can make the walk longer and shorter by figuring out the clues in advance and/or referring to a map of the area.
* Parking is $4 if you park at Vasona Park
* For a longer hike and free parking, take 17 (south or north) and exit hwy 9 towards Los Gatos proper. Turn left onto University and then left onto Miles. You will pass over the trail. On the left you will see parking. Take the trail back towards hwy 9. When you get to Vasona Park, start following the clues.
* This is a "wheel" friendly trail, but the location of the box is not.
* Trail is very busy, bring a prop to use as a diversion (camera/sketchpad/dog).
* Dogs are allowed on-leash. They are not allowed to chase the wildlife and please pick up after your four-legged friend (duh). Pooper-scoopers are provided (the expensive ones too!). Also, watch out for ticks (we've had reports of some 4-legged hunters taking some home).
* In early morning or foul weather, the foot bridge can be deceivingly slippery, watch out!
