5-6-09: Letterbox replaced! New clues!

Having grown up in Dixboro, I know this merry-go-round has been in existence since at least 1962 and probably much longer. Simple and durable construction, hard on the ears unless oiled, dangerous if you fall off and get up before the merry-go-round stops, it endures. The merry-go-round has not changed much in all these years. I couldn't resist a letterbox tribute to a memorial of childhood.

You'll find it on the Dixboro Common across Plymouth Road from the Dixboro General Store. Not too many good places for hiding letterboxes. The former hiding place was cut down, so now the box is hidden under the middle of 3 small spruce trees across the grass to the northwest of the merry-go-round and old school house. Be as discreet as you can.

Take a moment and muse about what it might have been like to go to school in 1888. If you have any experiences with this merry-go-round or others like it, please email me. I've never seen another like this one.
