Kids Clues

- Go to 11246 Hisers Ln Broadway, VA 22815.
-Start at the steps of the church.
-Go to the playground.
-Turn right and follow the parallel lines into the cemetery.
-In the 2nd row from the gate multiply 2 x 3 and go that many tombstones to the grave marked Connie Sue.
-Stand in front of the grave and turn your back to the church.
-Hop in a diagonal to the right 3 rows until you are between the two tombstones that are look like white columns marked Showalter.
-Find the pine tree that stands over the two graves marked Brunk.
-Walk counterclockwise around the tree three times.
-Find the two graves one behind the other marked Sonifrank.
- Gallop towards them.
- Stand between the 2 graves.
- Walk in front of the one with the cross in front.
- Face the black fence and skip towards it.
- Multiply 6 x 6 and go that many steps to the white tree and the grave marked Gets.
-Walk to the 3rd tree after the white one.
- It’s in the corner.

Fun Facts
- The church was built in 1822.
- There’s a horseshoe in a tree that was used to tie the reigns of horses to the tree during church.
- The first Trissels church was made out of logs.
- There has been church every Sunday since January 1948.
- The first preachers of Trissels were Henry Rhodes, Henry Funk and Henry Shank.
- Trissels was rebuilt 3 times and is twice the original size.

• Starting at the church steps
• Turn half around to the left (if facing the church)
• Walk on down the path past the 1st graveyard gate to the playground
• From the playground, follow the trail leading to the tomb stones
• First find the stone with the name of a sour, yellow fruit
• Spin around to see TWO chess piece looking columns and go towards them
• On the ground there will be a tile with a “P”
• Take 40 steps to the black fence
• Walk to the next tree that is over looking an old rugged grave that is marked Hannah
• Go to that grave
• Find the graves with “cups on top”
• Face the “bed of graves”
• Walk through the “bed” and to the WWII veteran’s grave
• Find the pink grave of the mother and the father
• Go to the grave of the “Viking” at the end of the row
• Go 10 steps to the tree in the corner


Fun Facts

- Trissels was built in 1822, being the first meeting house set apart for public worship.
- There is a horseshoe sticking out of a tree representing the first Mennonites who arrived here and created the church, because cars weren’t yet invented, and tied the reins of their horses to the tree, the horseshoes helped tie the horses.
- The first Trissels building was made out of logs.
- Sunday school and preaching services have been held every Sunday since January 1948.
- The first ministers of Trissels were Henry Rhodes, Henry Funk and Henry Shank.
- Trissels is the first and the oldest congregation in Virginia Mennonite Conference.
