These 9 boxes are part of the Fairies of the Forest: A Spring Awakening Gathering held at Bertha Brock Park County Park in Ionia, Michigan on 4-26-08. Pick up a park map to find these boxes.

FAIRY FLUTTER Box: (carved by Critter Liz)
The people at this club all love the NRA. Tracks of 3. Watch out for red. If you don’t, then you’ll be dead! A gray friend awaits on high. Why don’t you chat with him for a bit. He is a sight for sorry eyes (and so is his view). 3 square feet with metal pegs. Wooden seat and 3 more feet. Continue down the trail until you come to another seat for your butt. Rest again and look ahead. 20 paces in view. Flutter, flutter.

INDIGO FAIRY Box: (carved by Littlmoon)
Where to start? It seems so whack!
Look for an arch and a box of black.
You needn't be so helter skelter
Check out the one near the back shelter
15 will you elevate
To get you closer to your fate.
Another clue? My, you are naggy.
Look for one that’s kind of shaggy.
Bent right over, so we’re told.
Could it be the way to gold?
Keep the lookout for that fairy.
Both eyes open. Don’t be wary.
A twisty snake, but please don’t shout.
He’s only a creek showing you about.
Quick, Please hasten, Watch the snake.
For you, to a tree crossing, he will take.
Step right over, don’t get upset.
For if you fall, then you’ll be wet!
In your NW view, you shall see
A once strong and mighty castrated tree.
There are many trees in all.
Look for the one about 15 feet tall.
It's huge arms lay down upon the ground.
Perhaps there you should look around.
At the toes of this big tree
Is where little Indigo shall be.
Alas, you found her. Catch her, quick!
Or she may play another trick!

Keara- The Fire Faerie Box: (Carved by Celtic Clan)
Start at the 17 curvy steps near the back pavilion and go up. Wow! This looks like a nice place. Past a blackened circle (a fairy ring?) DON’T STEP INSIDE! It’s dangerous there! Step around. Everything seems ok at the corral! ICFHC (perhaps some more...A bear, deer, and turkey?) Another black box. (Seems kind of batty to me.) Under or over? (Really, which looks more fun?) Go down parallel with the evergreens and through to the pond. Three more boxes? They must be very spiritual. You could even say they are holy! Follow them around. (After all, holy ones never lead you astray!) You will go cross a wooden cross (or is that with “ing”?) with a flat one lying aside. Perhaps the brown shelter in front will relieve your soul? Perhaps not, but 39 flat ones might. Straight ahead, don’t be flustered by the view, as you head into the field. Are those broken Easter eggs under your feet? Continue across the field until you see a rusty drink, then follow the bushes to a roped up friend. Obviously, his friends have shunned him. Maybe that’s why the weight is attached to his neck. Isn’t this a great view? Perhaps another time you can try it from the top. Keara, however, plays here all the time. A bit mischievous, she is, but then again, aren’t all fairies? Fair Folk. You can’t trust them. Is Keara playing another trick? Should you go back?

Stop and think, my friend. A wonderful hill with a view? Head towards that direction from the first post on the eastern side of the hill. Pretty soon you’ll run smack into the 5th and 6th posts.. Another of Keara’s tricks! That little twit! Perhaps she’s hiding. Why don’t you check the trees that are east of these posts. Particularly, check out a shaggy tree between the two trees? Got her!!!

Cyclops and Griffin Boxes: (Carved by Doglvrs)
CYCLOPS BOX CLUES:
Two little men, playing with sticks, the one poked the other one’s eye. Now he has one, and it’s not very fun, so they “packed up” and with their sticks they walked a trail. Where did they start? Well, that is the trick, but I’m certainly not telling you. Perhaps our friend Dora (who is quite an explorer) can pull something out of her backpack for you. (However, she calls it a “mapa”. After all, she does speak Spanish!) Just keep your car parked, because you’re not going to get to use it! Lefty up, passing a mossy wall. “Y”? Which way to go. The buckets know. Tall and straight. Is that the Gnome’s home? Don’t tread there, for the sign won’t let you encroach. Keep on the trail and you will not fail. A clearing? V at the rock. Remember those trees near the building? Do what they did as you head down to a swamp of despair. (You know. Now that I think about it. That one eyed guy might not be so friendly. Why don’t you keep both of your eyes open for him just in case.) See a tree cave. Is he there? Not likely. Are you stoned???? You will be if you’re not careful! Cyclops is near 3 and a Y with an arrow. His spear rests at the entrance of his castle. Keep your eye open as you tunnel in. He’ll get you!

GRIFFIN BOX CLUES:
From where the park trail heads down a rocky slope at the end of the Marhofer, follow the road to the point where deer run in the outfield. Head for the green goal and follow the trail into the woods. Up, up, up... at the top Caution! From the resting place, count 21 paces due south to the mid-section of a fallen log.

Gnome Place Like Home Box: (Carved by Wild Dreams)
Some people look forward to the month of November because it brings deer hunting season, others because of Thanksgiving. Do the turkey trot or the deer run -- do either or both, but when you must choose, remember, there is "Gnome Place Like Home" for the holidays. In the valley, stop in your tracks and sight 105 degrees to a tree whose plump bottom (and is that cellulite causing all of those bumps?) give hint of too many holiday dinners. Find your prize wedged beneath the sleeping one at the base.

Thyme in A Bottle Box: (Carved by Midlandtrailblazer)
Make your way to the ICFHC lodge and find the Turkey trail.
Up, up and away and then up some more.
Soon you will be offered a choice. Refuse it!
Wonder what that makeshift ladder and knotted rope are used for?
Your treasure can be found 9 at 220 under the fallen one.

Green Butterfly Fairy Box: (Carved by Critter Liz)
Dam. (No, I mean it!) Cobbled, twisted, and stoned on the sides. Is that Mr. Palmer? 34 snaking down. Stony kitty is arching her back. Pipe in a square and hole in a box. Congratulations! It’s twins! Why don’t you pitch it up across the way. 40 over and 4 more to 6. Left 20 and see one laying down with a piggy on the back. Tickle the toes.

A Magical Pair Box: (Carved by JBanana)
Information please! Find the information booth with the black eagle perched on an arrow. North, South, East, or West? Look NE to a board that goes up and down. Take 50 steps in a northerly direction until you are on a planked bridge. From there, take 6 steps back and look under the southern side. A Magical Pair awaits!
