Acorn Acres

From 220 take the Route 56 exit west towards Johnstown the first left is Red Oak Rd turn there, and follow that all the way to the Stop sign. At stop sign turn right and drive a short distance up the road and you will see signs for Acorn Acres on your right, turn there.

Park along the fence, you will walk down the right hand side of the fence, this is steep and when wet can be slippery so be careful. You will often find the Bucks in this fence. Once you get to the bottom of the hill it will start to go uphill again continue up and there will be a fenced area on your right. Stop at the corner post. Go to the first post toward the sign that say “no one permitted beyond this point” (or something similar to that.) From that post look in the woods straight ahead you will see a tree with a dead tree at the base of it. This is where the box is located. This can be a busy place sometimes so you may need to hang around for a little while to be able to get the box. You may continue up to the observation area, and walk around the fence area and back to your car.

Some tips, dogs frighten the deer, so they are not allowed out of the car. You may like to bring a camera and/or binoculars. Summer and early fall is best to visit as the bucks have there antler at this time. In the spring you may be able to see a few fawns
