The Gnome Family is located on a loop hike, a little less then 2 miles round trip. To begin get yourself to a trail head that is on Skyline between Sibley Volcanic Park and Redwood Regional Park. Pick up a trail map when you start and head out on the self-guided nature trail.
Box #1 Forest Gnome
As you head down hill you will come to a fork in the trail. Go left at the post marker on the self guided trail. Walk until you reach post marker 1. It will be on your left. Across from the marker is a tree. At the tree's base is the forest gnome.
The first finder gets a special treat and a "first finder" page.
Pass trail markers 2 and 3.
Box #2 Gnome Twins
NOTE!!! BOX 2 has been relocated!!!
Pass trail marker 5. Soon you will reach a fork. Take the high road and continue along the self guided trail. You will pass trail marker 6, it is an offshoot from the path. No gnomes live here but it is a worthy diversion so check it out and then continue on your way past trail marker 7.
Box #2 Gnome Twins between marker 7 and marker 8, look to the right side for a fallen Bay Tree with has two horizontal trunks. Look for the rabbit hole where the Gnome Twins are hiding.
Box #3 Gnome MOM
Soon you will see a marker sending you off the path to the right to markers 8,9 and 10. Follow the sign to marker 8 and turn around. There is a small inlet path there with a makeshift bench. Have a seat and look under the far left side of the bench for the Gnome MOM.
Head back to the self guided trail and keep going. You will pass markers 11,12,13,14,15 and 16.
Box #4 Gnome DAD
After trail marker 16 keep your eyes open for a place to rest. When you find it walk to it and then turn around. Behind you is a one trunked many branched tree. Behind this is the Gnome DAD.
All of these boxs are quite exposed unless re-hidden well with rocks and branches. Please help keep the Gnome Family safe by making sure to cover them up after your finds. ENJOY!!!

Please note box 3 and 4 are missing.
