Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs has hidden Public Art Caches near pieces of public art all around Orange County. This hunt was created in an effort to let more citizens experience public art through an exciting and adventurous journey around Orange County. We hope that, long after you track down one of our Caches, you will continue your search for art.

SERENITY BY THE LAKE

Travel to 4872 Rose Bay Drive to experience "Serenity by the Lake" inside this community center. Based on an original painting by Arthur Dawson that resides in Orlando City Hall, these 8 x 10 foot panels were created by Orlando’s Piercey Studios and fabricated in Italy using a high- resolution digital image of the original painting. The scene conveys diversity on many levels, from the people to the flora and fauna in the park.

From Downtown take I-4 East to the Lee Road Exit (about 4 and a half miles North of Downtown). Turn Left on Lee Road and follow it for just over two miles. Take the first right after you cross N. Orange Blossom Trail (Hwy 441) onto Lake Breeze Road. When it ends in ½ a mile turn right onto Lake Orlando Parkway. This will wind around Lake Orlando – start enjoying the serenity of this lake that is surrounded by preserve and golf course. Take the fifth right in 1.1 mile onto Rose of Tralee Way. You’ll be leaving the calm beauty of this lake, but you are very close to the artwork. When Rose of Tralee Way ends in two tenths of a mile, turn right onto Rose Bay Dr. On your left is the swimming pool and community center.

As you enter the center ask at the desk to see the mural. It is in a room that is normally locked when not in use.

To find the cache, report the number of people and the number of birds depicted in the mural to the staff member at the desk. If you’ve got the number correct, they’ll show you to the cache.

Please note business hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Please feel free to send an e-mail to terry.olson@ocfl.net or call us at (407) 836-5540 to let us know about your hunting experience. If you could not find the Cache, please let us know. Other cache clues can be found at www.ocfl.net/publicartcaches.
