This is another box that I first planned on placing almost a year ago, but things were quite hectic last year.

This is a birthday present for Sam. I found this location while mountain biking in the unnamed forest preserves between Glenwood and Chicago Heights, IL. There is a bike path that runs between the 2 Glenwood Woods groves off of Glenwood road, and Joe Orr Woods off of Joe Orr Rd in Chicago heights. The directions are similar from either end of the trail, it is just a mile and a half walk from the Glenwood end of the trail. I will give directions from the Joe Orr Woods parking lot.

To get to Joe Orr Woods, take I 294 to the Halsted exit and head south on Halsted. Go about 5 miles to Joe Orr Road. It is just past Prairie State College. You will go left on Joe Orr Road, and Joe Orr woods is on your right about a quarter mile down the road.

Right inside the parking area, you will see a sign with a map of the bike path. Take the bike path about a mile down until you cross the second bridge over Thorn Creek. To your left, (west) you will see a strange looking concrete foundation of some kind. No, I did not hide it by this foundation. Take the path that goes past this strange hunk of concrete towards a line of trees. As soon as you get to the trees, start looking down and look for some old railroad tracks. Take 1 step past the railroad tracks, and turn to your right. In the trees, you will see another old foundation. That's the one you are looking for. It is long and narrow. Follow it to the far (north) end. There you will see about a 3 foot square of concrete. Look under the North edge of this block of concrete for Happy Birthday Sam.

It took me about 20 minutes to walk in to place the box. I forgot my GPS when I placed the box, so I will add UTM coordinates at a later date. Happy hunting.
