This letterbox is in the Mt. Carmel City Park in Mt. Carmel. From I-64, take Exit 130 and drive north on State Highway 1 to the center of Mt. Carmel. Turn left (north) on Market St. (CVS on corner). Drive about 1.2 miles (the street name will change to College Dr.). Turn right on Park Rd. At intersection with Club House Place, turn left into the City Park and park in the lot just after entering.
From the parking lot, walk on the paved road that goes off to the northwest through the park passing between children’s slides on the left and covered picnic tables and large tires on the right. After passing a red observation hut on a tower on right, you will soon curve to the left and arrive at a junction with a short paved road going to the right to some covered picnic tables. In the “V” of the junction are two huge tires with yellow rims. From the southwest side of these tires, go at about 246 degrees for about 62 steps to the center of a large log lying on the ground. The box is under the backside of the center of the log covered with pieces of bark which are covered with leaves and other plant debris.
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag). Please rehide the box well under the pieces of bark and cover with plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
I will not be able to check on this box very often; so, please let me know if you find it or if it needs attention or is missing:
