Follow US-31 N toward Charlevoix. On the left before you pass the "Charlevoix Twsp" water tower (looks like a hot air balloon) there is a small road, BELLS BAY RD, turn left on this road and follow around the curve to the end where you can either go straight into the St. Mary's Cement Plant or you can turn left following the sign to Fishermans Island, follow the sign. Follow this road straight ahead and it will dead end in a parking area looking out onto beautiful Lake Michigan. You can park here and walk in if you do not have a state park sticker on your car, it is a nice walk or drive (clocked at 2.5 miles from front ranger station to the letterbox location).From the ranger station follow the road along the lake, its a beautiful view in all seasons. There are camping sites to the right along the water, when you pass campsite number 35 the road becomes unpaved , keep going you are getting close! Follow the road straight to the dead end, there you see a parking area and straight ahead a foot bridge. Cross the foot bridge, follow the sand hiking trail that goes straight ahead, on the right you will see a cluster of small pines in front of a grouping of white birch (you can see these trees almost from the point of leaving the bridge).Look between the grouping of trunks ,hidden well under loose birch bark, to find the box!Please be careful when finding and replacing the letterbox, this is a popular area , be sure to hide well without being seen!Be sure to take the time to look around this is a beautiful area ...streams, waterfalls,beaches, wildlife!BRING YOUR OWN STAMP PAD PLEASE.
