Frogs first appeared on earth nearly 180 million years ago. Today there are about 3800 different species, found all over the world. These colorful creatures, extremely sensitive to their environment, are an important early warning sign of the health of our planet.
We have hidden a series of letterboxes with frogs in mind. Also there is a small ‘treasure’ for the young letterboxers to find in each box (please only take one item per child - so others might benefit too).

This series of 3 boxes are located in Freedom Park
Directions: 64 to Lightfoot exit 234 - follow 199 to Rt. 60 Lightfoot exit - At end of ramp turn left onto Rt 60 West - At first light turn left onto Centerville Rd - Go 3 miles - turn right into park entrance (across from Longhill Rd) - Follow road all the way to parking lot ( little over 1 mile).

Clues Box #1 - Argentine Horned Frog
-Go to the Stop sign at the end of the parking lot.
-Look for the mailbox at the trail head.
-Take the multi-use trail
-The trail will split - stay to the right
-Look for the sign marker with the hikers on it.
-Continue going straight on trial
-Find the next post with hikers on it - take 5 or 6 steps, then turn left onto path
-Take about 30 steps - you should see a very thin twin tree on the right side of path
-With the twin tree at your back - face east
-You will see a twin tree with a third behind it and a fallen one between the twin
-A walk of about 14 steps should bring you to the base of the 3 trees
-Look on the opposite side of the knotted roots to find a hollow at the base
-Please seal everything up tight - and re-hide carefully

Clues Box #2 - Red-eyed Tree Frog
-Walk back to main trail continue left
-Trail splits - stay right (you will see a sign with hikers on it)
-Keep walking until you see a very large uprooted tree on the left side of trail
-Turn to face the tree - walk about 25 steps up the left side of the tree
-Turn to face tree once again - look for the small arched tree right next to the large one
-Follow the arched one - where it meets up with the larger one that is where the letterbox will be
-Please re-cover with leaves and bark - seal up everything tight

Clues Box #3 - White’s Tree Frog
-Walk back to main trail continue left
-Go down the hill and cross a bridge
-Stay to the right of the trail
-Continue up the hill - about halfway up trail splits
-Stay to the left
-Trail will make a sharp right turn
-Go about 81 steps
-Look on the right side of trail for 3 logs that make an arrow (pointing at the trail)
-Go about 40 steps more
-Look to the left - find a group of 5 trees growing together
-About 14 steps should bring you to the base
-Letterbox is hidden in the center under bark , sticks and leaves
-Please close tight - and re-hide well

Continue on trail until it intersects with another main trail - go right (look for sign with hikers on it)
Keep walking until you come upon a large field - to the right you will see a fenced area - just beyond
that is the parking lot

Hope you had fun!
Look for more frogs in the future!!!!!
