This is the third box in a series of microboxes representing the five kingdoms of life. Protists are single celled organisms which still have nuclei and are therefore eukaryotes (In contrast to bacteria and archaea which have no nuclei and are prokaryotes.) This kingdom includes organisms like amoebas and paramecia. This box can be found in Emma Long Metropolitan Park on City Park Rd. off FM 2222.

The box can be found on the hiking trail along with X Marks the Spot and the Let’s Have a Picnic Series. Entry into this region of the park is free, and there is parking at the trail head, though you may want to continue to the rangers’ booth for a map. The clues for this box are simple:

This trail has large, easy to see mile markers. By whichever route you like, follow the trail to the 1 ¾ marker. Face the marker, then turn 180 degrees. In front of you will be a very obvious stump that branches off in many directions. In the stump, towards the back, and hidden by two rocks is the microbox. Please rehide well and let me know when you find it.
