Savannah National Wildlife Refuge - Laurel Hill Wildlife Drive
Visit the Refuge's Web Site:
http://www.fws.gov/savannah/
The clues all read they are in hardeeville but that is only the closest town. The easiest approach is from Savannah. - 8 mi North of Talmadge bridge on Hwy 17...follow the signs for the refuge. The drive is 4 mi. Please drive slowly and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife. I have seen snakes, lizards, gators, turtles, tons of birds, and a wild hog! Poison ivy, red ants, mosquitos, and (oh yeah!) gators are your biggest threats! :)
There are 6 boxes in this series. All six can be found on one outing and one of the boxes holds a great first finder's prize! I would have listed the boxes as a series on Atlasquest but I had trouble entering each clue so they will be listed apart.
The 1st 3 boxes are hidden around the entrance. Take your time and enjoy the area...take advantage of the port a potties before continuing on!
Begin by parking or standing in the first parking spot to the left of the entrance facing the info hut. Look past the right side of the info hut towards a solitary tree in the distance. The 1st gator is hidden at the base of this tree. Beware gators...and red ants!
