Level of Difficulty: Easy
Time: 2 miles round-trip
The Righteous Babe series is based on my all time favorite folk singer. Do you know who she is? To find out, locate the Camp Saratoga parcel of the Wilton Preserve.
Directions:
Take I-87 North to Exit 16. Take a right off the Exit and an immediate right onto Eddie Rd. Continue down this road and take a LEFT onto Scout Rd. You will soon see the parking lot on the left hand side.
**The first 2 are micro-boxes and contain no logbooks. The last box has the logbook.
*** You will need you own ink pad and a pen.
**** You can print a map a head of time if you wish at http://www.wiltonpreserve.org/
Clues:
Check out the trial map in the front of the parking lot. Then take the trail leading off the left corner of the lot.
Label
Take your first left onto the red trail. Pass several rows of benches. At the base of the big hill, look to your right for a 3 ft. high stump. Look inside.
Symbol
Continue on the trail uphill. Pass a lean-to on your left. Turn left at the next intersection onto the blue/red trail. Go over a bridge and up a hill. Pass the yellow trail on the left. Go down the hill and look for a blue trail tag on a tree by a slight curve. Look to your right into the woods for a 6-trunk pine tree about 20 paces in. Behind this pine is a 10 ft. tall dead pine. Look in its base.
Herself
Continue along the trail. At the “y” intersection, veer to the right. As you start up the hill, look for a 6 ft. tall dead stump of your left. Behind this stump is a small dead stump. Look here under a lot of bark.
You can finish the loop (make sure you have a map) or retrace your steps back to the parking lot.
I hope you have enjoyed our series!
