Time: ~30-40 minutes depending on season and trail conditions
Terrain: Hilly trail with relatively gradual incline/decline. Gravel/dirt path.
Starting point: From I-70, take exit 259. Go south about 0.1 miles and turn east into the Park-n-Ride parking lot named after a dinosaur with distinctive tail spikes and plates.
Do you think this stamp might have something to do with a laundry appliance? Or perhaps dinosaurs? You’ll have to find the box to find out! We had hoped to plant this box further west of Denver, but due to heavy snow had to choose a location closer to town. This box commemorates the escapades of our nieces, Amanda & Ashley. Note: You may want to look for “Board Stud” along the way.
In the south end of the lot, near the entrance, you’ll find a sign identifying a trail to the “ruasoniD egdiR rotpaR noitargiM noitatS”. Follow the arrow, pass thru a gate. At another gate follow the arrow UP! Pass the 7 Dangers, pass under the Power Ball, and pass 2 more Dangers. You’ll reach a “T” at a rock ledge. Head right until you reach a small twin-trunk pine at the summit. From here take 12 steps further until you are adjacent to a larger pine. The Speed Queen is resting in a rock nest in the sprawling juniper located SE of the pine. The nest is on the east side of the main trunk. After stamping in, please place the box back in the nest of rocks to be sure it isn’t visible from the trail.
Retrace your steps to return to your vehicle.
