INACTIVE
This box was pulled in April 2013 and is now "out-of-service". It had been flooded and was destroyed. Thanks to all the people who visited during the 5 years it was there. The logbook is stained and moldy but read-able.
Myakka State Park
Girl Scout Troop 217 from Broward County, Florida, placed this box during a final troop trip weekend of February 1-3, 2008. These girls are all high school seniors and several have been together since first grade.
Enter park entrance on Highway 72 9 miles east of I-75 exit 205. Drive through park approximately 2.6 miles past Cabin Road, over bridge, past Nature Trail, past Canopy Walk and Powerline Road to Ranch House Road. Park at trailhead with gate labeled "Meadow Sweet Pastures". Walk down shaded road approximately 8 minutes to historical site near wooden park bench. Locate 2 cement pilings and stand in the middle. Stand with your back to the road and walk towards large tree surrounded by a couple of small palms. On the back side of this tree, among the roots, covered by palm fronds (PLEASE REPLACE), you will find our letterbox. Let us know when you find our letterbox, findings will be passed along to our girls.
Have fun, enjoy this park, it's amazing!!!
