This is the first of a work in progress. More boxes will be added soon.
#1 Train Depot
Alamogordo began as a railroad town in 1898. Through the years the town prospered as the iron horse was used to transport lumber, ore, livestock and passengers. Many years later the growth of the trucking industry caused a huge decline in Alamogordo’s need for rail service and today, trains no longer stop here. The adobe train depot that stood near Tenth Street and White Sands Blvd. was demolished and has been replaced by Walgreen’s Pharmacy.
Clues:
Find the North entrance to the “Toy” version of the Train Depot on White Sands Blvd. Park in the small lot on your left. Locate the first tree from the entrance, take 16 steps South. Turn left and take six more steps along the small metal fence. Face right and if you are facing a big “T” you’re on the right track. Just bend down and your prize will be found right above Barber Bettendorf. Watch you head!
This area is often quite busy so please use discretion so that non-boxers will not vandalize this box.

Thanks for visiting Alameda-Take a Walk in the Park. There are now two more boxes in this series. Look for Watertower and Sawmill. Happy Boxing!
