To find the Burned Bridges Letterbox in Redwood Valley travel north on Hwy. 101 from Ukiah and take the West Rd exit #557. Turn right onto West Road. Drive a short distance and take another right onto East School Way. Find the Redwood Valley Industrial Park and stow your car. If you reach the little shopping center with four way stop you have missed the Industrial Park and should turn back. Lock your car and walk NE in the direction of the railroad crossing sign. Now take a turn to the NW onto the rails. Walk keeping to the left whenever you find a choice of tracks. You will be looking for the old burned bridge over the river, but there are two bridges. The first is so small to be almost inconsequential and is directly after the point where two tracks converge. So keep walking until you arrive at the larger burned bridge. If you are careful there is no danger, but a small child unassisted and unsupervised on the bridge could get himself into trouble.

Walk across the bridge noting the year this bridge was manufactured by the American Bridge Company. Take the sum of those four numbers, multiply by four and subtract two. Count that many ties (or where the ties should be) beginning with the first one after the bridge. When that spot is reached make a quarter turn to your left. Walk about seven steps to a boulder, not the largest of the group, but the next noticeable one to the west. On its north side, underneath and behind another rock you will find the Burned Bridges letterbox.

Please rehide carefully closing everything tightly.
