Unfortunately, this series became a victim of Hurricane Irene :(

NO LONGER AVAILABLE!

Level of Difficulty: Easy, flat terrain
Time: 1.5 miles round-trip

Directions:

This was meant to be planted before Christmas, but our little one arrived the day before we had planned to plant it. Better late than never, right??

The Naughty or Nice? series is planted on part of the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail in Rotterdam, NY. Take I-890 West to Exit 2B – Rice Road. Continue right at the stop sign. Pull into the parking area on the right hand side (across from the L&M Motel).

**The first 4 are micro-boxes and contain no logbooks. The last box has the logbook.

*** You will need you own ink pad and a pen.

Clues:

Raphie

Raphie is Santa’s favorite helper.

Take the bike trail to the left, towards Lock 8. Once you reach the wooden fence on the left, turn around and go back 25 paces to a leaning rotten tree stump on your right with 2 small trees growing out of it. Look inside the base of the stump, under some bark for Raphie.

List

Raphie has been asked by Santa to help build some toys for the good boys and girls. To find Raphie’s List…

Continue on the bike path towards Lock 8. Pass the wooden fence and the old lock. Go straight through the Stop Sign to remain on the bike path. Pass a partial stone wall on your left. At the Mohawk River overlook, look to your left for a tall rusted mental electrical pole. In front of this pole is about a 3ft. old wooden pole stump. Look inside, under some wood for the List.

Good Girl

Raphie scans the list for a good little girl. Hmm, what would Sue like?

Continue on the path towards Lock 8. At the blue Rest Area sign (there are also small wooden posts running across the path), turn around and go back 7 paces. Look to your left and you will see a small downed tree along the side of the path. Look in the “v” of the tree for Good Girl.

Good Boy

Raphie now scans the list for a good little boy. Hmm, what would Jake like?

Continue of the path towards your car and retrace your steps all the back to that partial stone wall (now on your right hand side). Facing the stone wall, you will find Good Boy in the far back left corner, under some wood.

You Are…

Raphie now scans for your name…. hmm… he can’t find it… Santa must have it! I wonder if you are naughty or nice?

Continue on the path towards your car. Go straight through the Stop Sign to remain on the bike path. Go past the old lock and the wooden fence. There is a small open area on your left a little past the fence. Continue to walk down the path, but look for a cluster of 3 large trees VERY close to the bike path. From here, go 10 paces farther down the path. Turn to your left and go about 2 paces down to a tree with a hole in the base. There is also a thin leaning tree touching this tree. Look inside the tree’s base to see that You Are…

Hope you had fun!!
