STINCHCOMB WILDERNESS PRESERVE: OKC

This box was last found on August 23 2008.

--Follow N.W. 50th west from its corner with council. Then follow the signs straight to the parking area. Leave your vehicle behind and walk the main path, you'll reach the next stop in 12 minutes of you're average.

--You will find, on the wide right-hand bend, there are two old guardrails to guide you toward the end. From this trailhead, follow the parallel path next to the road, after about 25 paces, and the low bald dirt knob, you'll find yourself in the flat, ready to continue the job.

--Your next stop can almost be seen form here. Head 290*, this is O.K. Stay on the same trail all the way. Look for the big long dead tree. Ignore the rest, for yours lies pointing east and west. Walk south from its middle. You will reach a living tree, one which makes a Tall bridge (5 feet plus 3).

--Stand under about the tallest point of this bridge. Stand still and look to the south to find the trunk with a V-shaped mouth. This V appears to cradle a pile of once urban stones. Travel straight there and listen for birds' tones.

--Continue on this trail over the stone pile, next to the river, further downstream awhile. Soon you'll be crunching pecans underfoot, you'll see. Stop turn to a heading of about 60*. Over there you should see a weird triple-trunk tree!

--Follow the trail past this tree up and around, the letterbox is almost found! Climb on this trail until you must duck for the cedar, don't slip or get dirty, stop and go back on 230*. Walk a short way on 230* until you cannot easily follow. The box is on your side of that small little hollow!

TO KEEP THE BRIARS AT BAY PLEASE HIDE OUR BOX BACK BEFORE YOU GO ON YOUR WAY.......
