Description: This letterbox is the first stamp I carved &
planted of my very own. Each spring snapping turtles lay their eggs in the loose soil of the railraod bed
Spring visitors may observe in a single evening, several large female turtles in various stages of the egg laying process. Both racoon & skunk consume large quantities of turtle eggs. The leather white litter can be seen in and around the little black holes along the trails as evidence of their leftover turtle egg meals.
Directions: From the traffic light on Rte 13 & Rte 38 in the village of Dryden,NY head South on Rte 38. Turn on Weber St. The trail starts at the intersection. There is a small pull off area to park across from the trail entrance.
Hike to the 1 mile marker located on the wooden bench. Sit down and relax by enjoying the view of the birds on the water. You may even see a turtle or two.
Enough rest, stand up, walk 11 paces straight across the trail. Turn to your left and find the little box turtle you seek.
Cover well when you leave, this is a highly traveled area.
