Villa Park is a small community in DuPage county. It is bordered by the following roads: Roosevelt Road on the south, Westmore Road (approx.) on the west, North Ave. on the north, and Route 83 on the east.

In the heart of Villa Park, there once stood a motion picture and vaudeville house.

The Park Theatre opened in November of 1926. Located on the west corner of Park Boulevard and Cornell Avenue, the $110,000.00, two-story structure of old English design, was described as the last word in comfort and beauty. The building housed two stores, three offices, three apartments, and the Park theatre. Owned and operated by Eugene L. Frum, it was considered one of the village landmark’s and soon became the town’s amusement center. The theatre had a seating capacity of 750 and was equipped with a $12,000 Geneva organ. Two shows ran daily and four on Sundays. Newsreels, comedies, oddities, cartoons, and vaudeville supplemented the feature picture. Only first class films were shown. The interior of the movie house was beautifully decorated, evenly heated in winter and cool in summer. The seats were leather upholstered and comfortable. The building was fireproof in every detail and had numerous exists. (From ‘Recollections’, a collection of stories and pictures bound together in 1976 by the Villa Park Heritage Committee.)

This building has been re-constructed into several existing businesses, one of which contains the letterbox.

And if you wander into the right one and you’re over 21 years old, you can sit and have a taste while you’re stamping in.
