The Roosevelt-Marcy Trail is a 40 mile road running from North Creek to Long Lake. Driving North from North Creek on New York State Rt. 28N, immediatly after crossing the line into the Town of Newcomb, there is a small stone monument on the right side of the road.
The monument says: Near this point while driving hastily from Tahawus Club to North Creek at 2:15 AM September 14, 1901, Theodore Roosevelt became President of the United States as William McKinley expired in Buffalo.
There is room to park there. Go around the 8th spruce tree to the right. With your back to the monument, walk 6 paces to the stump of a downed tree. 3 feet from the stump, inside the tree is what you seek. This is the second A in the Adirondack Series.
