Snails Pace

Hike Length: 0.2 miles
Clue Last Updated: December 30, 2007

I first went on this trail trying to find another box, I failed, but I thought that the trail was beautiful and well worth the hike. So I decided to plant one a little closer to the beginning so as to give people the choice for a short hike and a box to find or to continue on for the entire trail. This trail is only one mile long but there is a lot of uphill and it feels longer, at least to me it did. But if you make it up to the top you will be rewarded with a view to remember of the Rogue River and the surrounding area. Total elevation gain in the mile 1298 Ft.

Clues:
From I-5 you will take the Merlin-Galice Road to Indian Mary Park. Across from the park is the Umpqua Joe Trail.
Park at the weight station and take this trail.
You will pass four switchbacks.
At this point the trail levels out and you will come to a small creek crossing (may be dry during summer)
Cross over the creek
First tree on your left is a multi-trucked oak covered in moss.
Walk carefully to this tree and look at it's base on the northwest side under a rock.
This is where you will find my little treasure.

Warning: As always this is the backcounrty and can be a very isolated place, pay attention to whats around you whether it be animal or person. This would also be a prime area for snakes on a hot day.
Just beware and you will be fine.
