REPORTED MISSING 1/1/12

Pinellas County has many parks including beach parks, nature preserves, bike trails, and neighborhood parks. At Pinewood Cultural Park you'll find the Gulf Coast Museum of Art (fee), the Florida Botanical Gardens (free) and Heritage Village (free) which is open 10 to 4 Wednesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 on Sunday, except major holidays.

Heritage Village, at 11909 125th Street, just off Ulmerton Blvd., comprises 27 vintage structures spread over 22 acres. From the main parking area wander, through the pines, towards the east visiting the train depot, a log cabin, a farmhouse, a barn, and the Union Academy, to Shirley's Nature Trail. Take the trail north until you're east of the windmill and water tower. Stop near what was Stop #34 by the placards describing the windmill and water tower. On the east side of the path there's a downed, rotting tree just off the path. In its base under a rock you'll find the letterbox.

Watch out for alligators and thorns.
