This summer my children, my nieces and I had a great time letterboxing around the valley while my sister and brother-in-law cruised the Caribbean. (I think we had more fun!)We created our own stamps and attempted every box we could in 100+ heat. After 5 exciting finds the kids were hooked and inspired to create and hide a box of their own. Our hand carved stamp is inspired by it's location and the history of the person it's named for. We hope you have as much fun finding it as we did hiding it!

In the city of Rancho Mirage you will find a place where people used to go to look things up before the internet. You can even use the internet while you are there!
That is where you will find a bronze statue titled "Rider of the Purple Sage".
If you look NE from the sculpture's back you will see a large rock that slopes away from the sculpture but towards the hiding spot.
Walk 34 paces in the direction the rock slopes to a large gray rock with a flat front. Amongst the smaller rocks in front of it, look under the small red rock. Eureka! You found it!

1/09/2011: Our letterbox fell into disrepair so it has been pulled for some TLC. We will let you know as soon as it's "back in the saddle again". Thank you!
