Thomas’ Toy Box
The idea for this box came from The Children’s Memorial Box in Northborough, MA and Jay’s Tool Box in Fairview, OR. The inspiration for the box came from Thomas, the infant son of dear friends of mine who passed away after only one day of life. It’s amazing how two little feet can leave such a large imprint on so many lives. Please feel free to add a toy stamp to the box in memory of a child or to honor a special child in your life. If you would like to add a stamp and cannot do so in person, please contact me and I will send you my address to mail the stamp to. I’m hoping that together we can fill Thomas’ Toy Box!
Take Pond Street off of West Street in downtown Leominster. Take Elm Street off of Pond and stay on Elm Street until you pass Richards Kennel and then look for the trail on the right past house #693. There is a small parking area off the road.
Follow this yellow blazed trail up and down over eskers formed by glaciers. At one point you will come to a T junction, go left. Finally you will come to a bridge over a small stream. My husband, the letterboxing ham, was one of the builders of the bridge, great job! Cross the bridge and continue on the yellow-blazed trail to the left You will come to another T junction. Go right and after about 25 letterboxing ham steps look for an opening between two downed logs on the right. Thomas’ Toy Box is hidden at the base of 2 birch trees just through the opening, on the left. It is a fairly large box so, please, be sure to re-hide it carefully. Go back the way you came being careful to look for that first T junction you came to.
The Borden Girls letterboxes are also on this trail.
