Honey Watch Out Has a New Home!
This box lived at Hurd Park for a while, but has now been moved to Mount Higby.

To find this box you can start from John Tynan Park in Middletown, Ct. To get to the park take route 66 in Middlefield to Higby Road which is right next to the Red Dog Saloon on route 66. Follow Higby until you get to the stop sign and the park is on the left. From I-91 take Country Club Road to Higby Road and the park will be on the right just before the stop sign.

This box can also be found by parking on route 66 at the pull off for the blue trail. You can spot a car here and at John Tynan Park if you plan on walking the entire ridge. If you come in from 66, follow blue all the way past the Black Knight and the natural bridge. When you pass the natural bridge, you will go down the trail and then up again. As you walk across some slick rock you will see some white birches growing from the ledge on the left. From this point there is a snag, take a reading from it of 100 degrees. Go ~55 steps, crossing over a windrow of trees (looks like an old time fence) to a fallen tree. Between the tree and the lichen covered boulder under a rock lies Honey Watch Out!

If you choose to go to this box from Tynan Park, follow blue/red until it connects with blue. Follow blue all the way to where you feel like you are at the top stop and catch your breath, the feeling is “Priceless.” Bear left on blue and continue on blue. Don’t take the unmarked trail on the right unless you have a "purrfect" reason to go that way. You will climb some stone stairs where you will see the beginnings of the windrow of fallen trees on your left. Follow blue until you get to the white birches on the ledge to the right. Follow the directions above to find the box.

If you have some more hiking in you, you can find the Black Knight only a gully away.

You may return to your car by back tracking or going along blue to the car you spotted on route 66. This will be a long hike so make sure you have time to do it. The hike up and back from Tynan Park is about a 3 hour round trip. Be advised that this is home to copperheads, so use caution in the warmer months.
