I have discovered Rathdrum, Idaho . I have always known about Rathdrum but, the knowing was stored pretty far back in my brain. Recently it has been brought to the forefront because of my sister's family.
They have opened a book store/coffee bar in Rathdrum. And possibly~ needless to say, we have started looking into Rathdrum History. It is a treasure trove of history as most towns in North Idaho are.
There are already a few letterboxes in Rathdrum that speak to some of this history. So this letterbox does not focus on history, though this letterbox will bring you to Main Street Rathdrum and it is near impossible not to feel the history there.
You will need to locate Pleasant Land Books & Expresso. I would give you the address but, Where's the fun in that?
Pleasant Land is on the southwest portion of a new brick building on Main. It is in a truly wonderful building.
At one time this piece of property was home to the Ruffell Hotel. That hotel was lost to fire in the early 1900s. Almost 100 years later the current owners of the property have built a building that feels of history.
When you find Pleasant Land, go on in. I know you will love the place. It is a warm and charming atmosphere. Walk up to the counter and greet the lady that runs the espresso machine. You will need to ask her for "a Cup of Kindness, Please" to gain access to the letterbox. She will hand the letterbox to you so you can have a seat and stamp away.
There is no need to purchase anything. You are free just to gain the letterbox and be on your way. But, if you are like me, passing up a full featured coffee bar without trying a drink may be hard. Couple that with books new and old and you have just discovered my new favorite haunt.

Available only during business hours.
Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Hope you enjoy the hunt, the area, and the letterbox.
God bless.
Sincerely, Sondog
