White Swan Letterbox can be found within the Kennebec Highlands Trail System. If you would like to obtain a copy of the in depth trail map, contact the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance at 207-495-6039.

Find your way to the parking area for the Sander's Hill Loop. Yes, there is another LB planted along the main trail here (Maine Hiking Letterbox). Looking at the information board, notice the smaller trail with the blue blazes to the right. Take that trail.

The blue blazes are well marked. This trail is not traveled as much as the main trail. Follow the blue blazes. As you approach Watson Pond, the trail will become rocky and uneven. You will step over a line of rocks being used for conservation purposes. You may be able to see the pond through the trees depending on the season. Notice a blue blaze to your left. Straight behind the blaze (not the tree, but the blaze) you will find a lovely set of stairs going up to the top of a rather large boulder.

On the top of the boulder you will have a beautiful view of Watson Pond. Have a seat. Enjoy the view. If you are lucky, you might see a White Swan floating on the pond. When you are ready for the Letterbox, look to your right. There is a balsam growing out of the boulder. The box is hiding under a root with a rock over it. Please rehide well when you are finished.

You can return the way you came. There is a path that connects to the main trail for Sander's Loop, but it is not a well maintained trail. Better to go back the way you came. A letterbox is also nearby at the Round Top Trail and at French's Mountain (Turkey Vultures).
