Dissy's Torch

In 1996 the Summer Olympic Games were held in Atlanta, Georgia.

Customarily, the Olympic flame is carried by torchbearers from Mt. Olympus in Greece to the site of the games. For the '96 games, the selected torchbearers were people with extraordinary commitment to public and community service.

One of those torchbearers was Nanci Bell of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Nanci ran the torch down Philadelphia's West River Drive and into the Art Museum Circle where tens of thousands of people waited and cheered her arrival with the flame.

The Dissy's Torch Letterbox is located along that run.

Park at the big green barn (1233) and head South.
