The historic Coney Mountain is an easy hike with AMAZING views! Located in the Adirondacks, it offers miles of uninhabited scenery. It takes about 25 minutes to get to the summit. The trail is clearly marked making it a perfect family outing. On the Northwest side of the mountain is a white cross, which is visible from the highway.

Directions to Coney Mountain: Located on Route #30 in between Long Lake and Tupper Lake. Right at the county line signs between Franklin and Hamilton Counties, there is a brand new parking lot at the trail head or use the snowplow turn around opposite the trail head where you may park. The path begins with a trail sign in. There is a sign in box at the trailhead. The trail is 1.1 miles to the summit. As you begin you will go on 2 man made bridges . A ways more, the climb will get steeper About halfway up you will begin to pass many glacial erratics (large stones dropped by the glaciers that formed the Adirondacks.) The climb gets a bit rocky but easily navigated, as you get close to the top. At the summit you'll notice two surveyor's pegs. Go past the pegs towards the highway. The box lies in a rock crevice.Be sure to see the cross-continue northwest just over the summit down a ledge.

We just replaced the box this June 2015! We hiked this with our 3 year old and she did just fine!
