Fabulous Ferndale

This is my first letterbox so let me know how I did! This letterbox does not contain a pen please bring your own. I’ve include a little ink pad as the stamp turns out better when using it, but I’d bring your own just in case. As this is the first letterbox I have heard of in Ferndale I hope you take the time on your travels to enjoy downtown Ferndale. Ferndale is a fairly new, up and coming city that has lots of fun downtown shopping, great food (especially vegetarian), and night life. I suggest taking a little extra time to stop in stores and cafes that you will be passing as you make your way through the city.
As you begin your journey you will be led down one of Ferndale’s main streets. Follow each clue west down the street unless indicated otherwise. Each clue builds upon the one before it. The only clue you’ll be able to discern ahead of time is the starting point. I suggest bringing a pen to fill in the answers as you go along.

1. Start at Ferndale’s main intersection (Woodward and 9 mile).
2. Find the tarnished copper man that tells you when to stop and when to go.
3. Find a sign near by (not the copper man’s sign) that talks about a mode of transportation from Detroit to Ferndale. Find the dates on the sign that indicate the year the transportation started through when it ended. Write down the 3rd number___________________. This is the street you will continue walking west down. Write down the 1st, 8th, and 4th numbers_______________________. This is the address you need to go to first.
4. When you get the correct address write down the name of the business_______________. (I recommend going in. It’s a lot of fun). The next place you are looking for is someone’s name that is only two letters long. The first letter is the same first letter as the building you are standing at. Write this down_________________.
5. The sign for the building you are now standing at has a sign that tells you four different things they sell, in each corner of the sign. Write down the thing they sell in the lower left hand corner________________. Now look for a building that you can buy this product. It will be close by on the right side of the street.
6. Your next business shares the same first word (excluding, “the”). Write this down_____________. Continue walking west to find it on your left.
7. Write down the name of this business_______________________________________. Use this name to spell out a word in the next business: 1, 5, 15, 17, 11 ____________________________.
8. Facing this building, look to your right. There is a drop box. What color is it?_______________. Continue heading west looking for a business with that color in the name.
9. Look at this business’s hours. Subtract 1 from the time they open on Sunday ________________. Continue heading west. Turn left after that many streets (do not count drive ways).
10. Enter the second island in the middle of the street. Find a circle of bushes. Go to the flag pole in the middle. With your back to the pole, facing the big rock, look at the bush @ 2 O’clock.
11. Search this bush on the side facing its closest twin in size. Here you will find your prize.

Be careful here because very close by is a geobox. Make sure you’re looking at the right one! Make sure no one sees you as you are surrounded by houses and sandwiched by two streets. I hope you enjoy yourself. Let me know how it goes and I hope you enjoyed Ferndale.
