Grout Brook is the main stream feeding into Skaneateles Lake, one of America’s purest and cleanest lakes. NYS Conservation Department maintains public fishing access along the brook.

Directions:

From Skaneateles (Rt 41 South)
Drive through towns of Borodino & Spafford. 2.2 mi past Spafford is Cortland Co. Sign (15.1 mi from Rt 20). Turn right on Vincent Hill 1.5 mi to stop sign. Turn right. Bear left on Glen Haven Rd. Drive .2 miles to a small parking area on your right just before the bridge.

From Cortland / Homer (Rt 281 North)
Take Rt 41 North from Rt 281. Go 7 mi to town of Scott. Turn left on Glen Haven Rd. Go 3 mi down hill, bearing left on Glen Haven Rd.. Drive .2 miles to a small parking area on your right just before the bridge.

Clue:

Take the trail to the left of the “Please Do Not Litter” sign. Walk by an uprooted stump, and keep bearing to the left. Step over a fallen tree, and follow the trail closest to the water. Soon, ahead of you, you will see a large green box. Walk to this "Stream Sampler Box”. Standing next to the box, with the box on your left, continue walking, passing a group of trees on your left. Ahead you will see a gigantic tree with broken branches lying to each side. Walk under the left archway formed by the broken tree and look ahead to a 5 trunked tree at about 11:00. Walk behind this tree and you will be at a lone tree with a “Public Fishing Area" sign. With this sign at your back, look into the middle of the 5 trunks, hiding amongst the sticks, for your lizard.

DO NOT LOOK FOR THIS BOX DURING HUNTING SEASON
