WELCOME TO BROADALBIN, Box #1

Go to the corner of Routes 29 and 30. Look for a place where you can ask a question. Pull into the parking lot and look for the entrance to the Rail Trail. Take a left onto the trail heading east. As you walk down the trail you will notice that on your right there are lots of trees, and on your left there is a grassy feild. After you have walked about a quarter of a mile you will see a grouping of trees on the left. One stands alone, and the other is a multitrunked maple. On the north side of the multitrunked maple, wedged in the tree trunk is your prize. Depending on the time of the year this trail is frequently used . However, it should be easy enough to get the box undetected. Please use with care and rehide well. Welcome to Broadalbin!

THE KENNEYETTO LETTERBOX, Box #2

The word Kenneyetto means, "snake trying to swallow its own tail." This is the name given to the river that runs through Broadalbin. The Kennyetto Letterbox is planted in Kenside Park which is on Saratoga Avenue in the center of Broadalbin. Find the monument in the center of town, and the park is a, "stone's throw away." Enter the park, the Kenneyetto will be on your left. Across the back of the park there is a wide border garden. As you face the garden, there is a tall row of hedges. Behind the hedge on the southernmost side (closest to the river) about one foot up, wedged in the branches, you will find what you are looking for. This box is small, we have included small markers to stamp in with, but no pen or pencil to sign in with. If you bring your own ink, green is the preferred color. Please return the box carefully, as there are businesses on all sides of the park. Once you are finished, grab a cup of coffee and head for the Broadalbin boat launch where you'll find letterbox #3 in the series!

THE BROADALBIN BOAT LAUNCH, Box #3

Leave the center of Broadalbin, heading north, on North Main, curving through the town, ending up on Route 110. Watch for Lakeview Road on the left. There will be a state boat launch sign at Lakeview Road, turn left here and proceed up the hill past Springer's farm. From the turn, travel 3.5 miles to the boat launch. The launch will be on your left. Pull in to the launch parking area. Circle through the lot until you see a covered sign with information about the Hudson River Watershed. Get out and read the sign. While facing the sign, look to your left and you'll see a small grove of trees between you and the road. Go to the largest tree. There will be several large rocks around the base of the trees. Look for a rock cave by the base of the biggest tree. There, you will find what you are looking for. Please remember to recover the hiding place well with wood and leaves. Take a minute to enjoy the view!

NOTE: These boxes can easily be visited in an afternoon. The boxes are in close proximity and are relatively easy to find. Be sure to stop by and find Eagle Mills #3, also located in Broadalbin.

Happy Trails!
