Directions-
This area of Bear Creek can be reached by taking M-55 to Highbridge RD. N. You can only go North off of M-55. Take Highbridge Rd. into the city of Brethren.
You will pass the school ( you know your in the country when the school is elem., middle and high!). Continue and pass the laundry mat. You will turn left just past the cemetary. Take this road to Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club
entrance. Park in the rear, nearest the outhouse.

NOTE* We love this place and spend much time here in the fall salmon fishing. We bought our cottage within 20 mins. of here it is so close to our heart. Please take a few minutes to enjoy the beauty of our special place.

CLUES:Box#1 Bear Creek
Your journey will begin at the trail sign near the wooden railing. Follow the Ridge trail up over the bridge. At the sign go left. Another choice? Choose Lagerquist trail. You will pass 2 old chewed up stumps on the right. See the creek ahead? Go over small boardwalk and down 1 step. Have a seat on the bench and enjoy Bear Creek. If your here between late Aug. and mid Oct. do you see the salmon jumping? Now, if your done wishing you were fishing, and you are still sitting, look over you left shoulder. Get up and take a closer look at the gnarly rooted trees about 10 steps away. Look to the biggest opening and reach in deeply left to find the Bear. (I'd use a stick 1st!)
***PLEASE WATCH THAT YOUR NOT SEEN. REHIDE WELL. LOTS OF FISHERMEN ON THESE TRAILS***

Box#2 Fish on!
Head back up to your trail and continue on. You will come to another bench on the right. Enjoy the view from the ridge as you travel the creek path. Pass the "field of ferns"on the left. Notice the tree that has fallen between the arms of another on your left. (you like that? i thought it was very poetic!) Also the VERY mossy tree on the right. STOP at 7 smallish trees against the path on the left. There will also be a 2trunked tree on the right and a small clearing near the creek. Look to 290 degrees. 28 steps, see the large hollowed tree? Near the roots on the backside, fish on you will find!
*SAME NOTE AS ABOVE*

Box#3 Spawning
Go back to the path and head back the way you came. Passing all the places you've been. Continue back over the bridge and choose Mickey's trail this time.
Pass the overlook on the right. past the " White Ash" mark on the right. On to remember Joan Reed. Sit here and find 350 degrees. Looking through the trees you should be able to make out a picnic table beyond. Head towards it through the trees for 50 steps. Look left for large fallen tree near an old out building. Find where bark meets tree and spawning you will see! Head out toward the creek and enjoy the dam. Either way you go it's back to the parking lot.

*NOTE*
If you enjoyed this hunt, you may want to go on to "The Weir", it's not too far from here and is a cool spot too.
