I 89 Exit 18 take Route 120 South to Lebanon Common where 120 takes a right turn towards Meriden. From the Common follow 120 south 7.9 miles and take a right onto Main Street (Kimball Union Academy). Go on Main Street .9 miles and take a left over the Covered Bridge #24 onto Colby Hill Road and up the hill .7 miles to Columbus Jordan Road on the left; after 1 mile you come to parking for French's Ledges. The trail to the box is an easy walk although there are many roots and some uneven parts over rocks so you will need to be careful. The climb to the ledges is more challenging but worth the specular 360 degree views especially north and west into Vermont.

After parking follow the light blue blaze trail; go straight at the cross trails and left at the Y after bending around a large boulder; (this intersection is not well marked but if you take the other way you come to an end at an outcropping with some views but also lots of trees). Continue following the light blue blaze trail and come to a blue sign for French's Ledges to the right and shortly thereafter another blue sign where you see a red blaze. from the second sign count 37 steps onward and look for the second red blaze; just ahead the trail begins to climb. Directly across the trail from the blaze is a tall dead tree, at the base of this tree is a flat stone and just behind the hidden box, remove the two smaller stones on top and reach in. After stamping take care to hide the box well and cover with the two stones as this is a very popular spot.

Thanks for visiting!

August 2008 Wet summer! We checked on the letter box and it is fine. Low activity at this spot so far, hope you go find it. Continue on to the top of the ledge the view is wonderul.
