In New Mexico, logging is a politically charged issue. Environmentalists are often opposed to it, while traditional communities see it as a way of life and their livelihood. For this box, however, we’ll take a lighter approach to the logging issue.

I used to be a big Monty Python fan and one of their all time classic skits had Michael Palin singing The Lumberjack Song, which was a silly ditty about being a cross dressing lumberjack. To see the original Python version, see

To get my Lumberjack letterbox, you’re going to have to fill in the blanks for some of the words to this song. A few select verses follow:

I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK,
I sleep all night and I 1-2-3-4 all day.

I cut down trees, I eat my lunch,
I go to the 5-6-7-6-8-9-3-10

I cut down trees, I skip and 11-12-13-14
I like to press wild 15-5-9-1-16-3-17

I cut down trees, I wear high 18-16-16-5-17
17-12-17-14-16-19-20-21-16-17 and a 22-3-6

Now, to get to the letterbox, follow these simple directions.

9-7-16-3-5-9-9-4 6-8 13-21-5-16 13-6-3-4-16-3 15-21-15-8-16-16-19 9-19 18-10-20-16 14-6-3-4 3-20 12-19-20-16-3 15-6-3 5-16-15-8 16-19-20 9-15 22-9-6-3-20-1-6-5-4.

Drive-by box with hand carved stamp.
